'Hard’n Up' Australia!

Darren Hallesy: We are labelled the ‘fattest nation on earth’. Jamie Oliver knows it, the medical system knows it, and statistics show that we as a nation, have an obesity crisis.
It’s time to ‘Hard’n up’, and personal trainer, Biggest Loser star and author Shannan Ponton is the man leading the call.
His new book, ‘Hard’n Up’ has been twenty years in the making, and is the complete guide to losing weight, getting fit and eating right. Currently filming the new season of ‘The Biggest Loser’, Shannan is pumped for another big year.
“I wrote this with the aim of making it accessible and achievable to everyone in the country. In 1991 my first personal training company was called Harden Up Training, and its something that stuck with me. I heard all the time excuses from people, like ‘I want to lose weight but I can’t’….and I would always say that they need to harden up.
“I know how good it feels to be healthy every day, I never have a lousy day. My dog died recently. He was thirteen and his poor heart gave up on him, but I’m still on top of the world. My motivation is purely being healthy and fit, doing the things I want to do. I’m nearly forty and I’m still trying new things,” Shannan said. “As a trainer you’re always looking for new and better ways to do things. This book is everything I’ve learnt from twenty years in this business.
“In there is the best way to train, the most effective diet, the best way to get your head straight, and how to set your goals. I don’t think there is a human body in Australia that won’t lose weight, I think its totally foolproof.”
